International pressure on Azerbaijan has intensified, and as a result of that international pressure, as well as the joint efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, Baku to some extent gave in to its previous statements, after which our three compatriots returned home. Tatevik Hayrapetyan, MP of the NA My Step faction, said this in an interview with ‘Lurer.

“Of course, we expect the return of a much larger number of our compatriots and demand it from Baku. It is Baku’s obligation both with the trilateral statement of November 9/10 and in accordance with all the rules of international humanitarian law,” she said.

According to her, what happened was followed by a joint statement of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries to return the captives immediately and not to slow down the process.

Hayrapetyan emphasized that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed yesterday that the process must be completed and the Russian side will make efforts in that direction.

“You are also aware that a corresponding resolution is being initiated in France calling on Baku to immediately return Armenian prisoners of war (POWs). It is obvious that there is a strong international and organized pressure on Baku. Keeping our compatriots in Baku for another day should be a real headache for Aliyev. He should put aside all his ‘preconditions’ or the problems he is trying to solve by holding our compatriots hostage and fulfill the obligations he has undertaken,” added Hayrapetyan.
