Criminal case filed against Azerbaijan military for violating Geneva Convention, international humanitarian law

The Artsakh Information Center has posted a statement which reads as follows: 

The units of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces in 2020 on October 10 in the first half of the day, violating the conditions of Moscow, Russia agreement (09.10.2020) on the humanitarian ceasefire that entered into force on 10.10.2020 from 12 pm and the requirements of 1949, August 12 Geneva Convention on the “Protection of Civilian Persons in the Time of War” and other norms of international humanitarian law penetrated the city of Hadrut in the Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] Republic, out of national hatred, illegally, intentionally, with the use of firearms, killed 5 civilians who were not directly involved in the military actions, as well as set on fire civilian houses and other buildings, thus illegally destroying large amounts of property there were of non-military interest.

A criminal case has been accepted in the Investigative Committee of the Artsakh Republic in accordance with Article 416, Part 1, Point 1, Article 416, Part 2, Point 6 of the Criminal Code of the Artsakh Republic.

The investigation is underway.
