Russia Foreign Intelligence Service chief: West trying to sow discord in work of EEU, CSTO

In the wake of its sociopolitical crisis, the West is trying to sow discord over the work of integration organizations such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service  (SVR), speaking to RIA Novosti

"The current course of development of the international situation, the international state of affairs confirms the certainty of the conclusions that the Western-centered world order is collapsing, and it will be replaced by multipolarity," Naryshkin said.

According to the Russian SVR director, crises are observed in the European Union and in some EU countries in general.

The West is especially intimidated by the integration processes in a small Eurasian expanse, he said.

"The existence of truly sovereign and independent states in this region, especially of the positively developing integration processes does not fit into their understanding of their own security, the Americans' understanding of their own security," Naryshkin stressed.

According to him, in this case we are talking about such organizations as the EEU, the SCO, and the CSTO, which are part of the global international architecture. "And, of course, they [the West] also try to sow discord in the activities of these integration unions, and try to disrupt the course of the processes in the countries that are close to us, which together with us form the basis of those unions, those organizations that I mentioned." said the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.

To note, Armenia is a member in the Eurasian Economic Union, and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
