Russia sends another 20 planes carrying peacekeepers to Artsakh within last 24 hours

Russia has sent another 20 planes carrying 170 peacekeepers to Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] within the last 24 hours, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu had said that more than 1,100 Russian peacekeepers had already been deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh and 73 respective flights had been conducted so far.

The total group will consist of 1,960 soldiers with firearms, 90 armored personnel carriers, and 380 vehicles and other equipment.

The total Russian peacekeeping contingent in and around Artsakh shall consist of 1,960 servicemen with firearms, 90 armored personnel carriers, and 380 units of motor vehicles and special equipment.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday night signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
