Paris deputy mayor: If Artsakh loses, so will Armenia and Europe

If Artsakh loses, so will Armenia. If Armenia loses, so will Europe. This is what Deputy Mayor of Paris Anouch Toranian said in an interview with Nation News.

Deputy Mayor Anouch Toranian said Azerbaijani-Turkish nationalists are going around the streets of France, chanting “we are looking for Armenians, we are hunting for Armenians”, and according to her, this is unequivocally linked to the events unfolding in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

“With this, both Erdogan and Aliyev are trying to promote their anti-Armenian propaganda. They need to instill hatred towards Armenians,” she said.

Toranian is certain that if Artsakh loses, so will Armenia, and if Armenia loses, so will Europe, and this has to be clearly stated. Today, Armenian communities of the world are demanding that the governments of their respective countries of residence recognize the Republic of Artsakh. The deputy mayor says if international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh is the only option that will ensure peace for the people of Artsakh, it has to be done.

“The mayor of Paris says she is ready to recognize the Republic of Artsakh, even though France’s diplomats don’t unequivocally support the decision. We believe there has to be at least one country that recognizes the independence of the Republic of Artsakh, after which there will be a chain reaction,” Toranian said.

Assessing the events unfolding in Artsakh from Paris, Toranian stated that no other country can directly help Artsakh since it is an unrecognized state and everything needs to be done through Armenia. The deputy mayor also commented on the use of phosphorus and cluster munitions and other banned weapons in the civilian settlements of Artsakh and recalled that since day one, President Macron has said Turkey’s actions need to be referred to as aggression.

Toranian says it is also necessary to work in the information field in order to make people in France understand what the Artsakh conflict is all about and why Turkey and Azerbaijan are leading such an aggressive policy in the region.
