Iran will check the facts about the missing Armenian servicemen’s presence in Iran, the Iranian embassy in Armenia informed.
"We express our support to the families of the casualties and the missing of the recent war, and inform that the embassy is also looking the unconfirmed reports being disseminated about the presence of a number of Armenian soldiers in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The embassy cannot confirm this report at the moment, but the results of the studies being conducted will be announced at the earliest opportunity," the embassy said, in particular, in a statement.
To note, there were reports on social media that about 80 Armenian soldiers had crossed into Iran during the recent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war. After that, their families started gathering in front of the Iranian embassy in Yerevan to get information on them.
On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
